Where traditional screens ask people to watch, immersive technology puts them at the centre of the experience. The result is a level of engagement and emotional impact that no other medium can match.

How We Work
At Cheese & Pixels, we design and build bespoke immersive experiences end-to-end, from concept through to deployment. Our work spans headset-based VR, interactive configurators, educational tools, and mixed reality applications. Each project is crafted around a specific brief and audience, and we handle everything: real-time 3D environments, interaction design, hardware integration, data capture, and companion apps where needed.
Our Projects
Blurring Reality for Educational Impact
Working with researchers at the University of Essex, we developed a VR tool designed to assist people living with visual field loss. Using Pico headsets and a companion tablet configurator, the experience replicates a user's specific blindspot and uses eye tracking to lock it precisely to their real-world vision. A heads-up display then streams a live feed of the obstructed area into a region where their sight is clear.
Built to support clinical research, the tool assessed users on speed and accuracy across two tasks and transmitted performance data to a bespoke web portal for researchers to access. When the pandemic halted in-person testing, we adapted the system for fully remote socially-distanced trials without compromising data integrity.
Expanding the Showroom Without Expanding the Space
IKEA's Order and Collection points serve customers in areas without a full-size store, but can only display a fraction of the catalogue. We built a virtual IKEA showroom that solves that problem: a series of fully furnished, stylistically distinct roomsets drawn from the live product range. Users explore the space, customise key items such as swapping sofa colours and table styles, and isolate individual products to inspect them at scale.
Favourite items can be saved directly to an in-store order list, extending the retail journey into the experience itself. The result connects customers to a far wider range of products without requiring a single square metre of additional floorspace.
Building the Circular Innovation Hub
Berry Global's Circular Innovation Hub in Barcelona was conceived with immersive technology at its core. We partnered with Berry Global to help build out the hub, shaping how mixed reality would sit at the heart of the visitor experience. The centrepiece is the Clean Stream experience: users interact with a detailed 3D model of the process using hand tracking, moving through each stage as infographics and animations unfold around them.
A companion invidulator app gives facilitators control over how visitors progress through the Clean Stream stages, keeping each session focused and well-paced. The result is a hub where mixed reality is not an add-on but a fundamental part of how the space communicates and engages.
