Our Projects
Turning City Streets into AR Stories
Unlock Norwich is an all-in-one visitor app for the city of Norwich, built on our own Cheese & Pixels App Platform. We designed it to solve a common problem: destinations relying on separate apps for different functions, breaking the flow for users who just want a single, joined-up experience.
The app combines practical trip-planning tools such as parking, facilities, and independent recommendations with AR trails and immersive storytelling tied to Norwich's landmarks and history. Built as a modular platform, it can be adapted and redeployed for other destinations, making it as much a product as it is a project.
A Digital Companion for Out There Festival
Out There Arts is a Great Yarmouth-based charity behind the Out There Festival, an internationally acclaimed outdoor arts event drawing over 60,000 visitors annually. Ahead of their 2025 event, they adopted our Cheese & Pixels App Platform to give festival-goers a proper digital companion.
The app included a full event schedule, personalised reminders, an interactive festival map, and a favourites feature for bookmarking performances. The goal was 500 installs. They reached over 1,260 across the event — more than double the target, with strong feedback from both attendees and the Out There Arts team on its impact before, during, and after the festival.
A Virtual Trip to the Cayman Islands
The Cayman Islands Department of Tourism wanted to engage PR and media contacts with an immersive experience that captured the spirit of the islands before they visited. We built a markerless AR app featuring detailed 3D models of all three islands, launchable anywhere without a printed marker.
Each island was dotted with hotspots surfacing videos, images, and local information, with ambient animations (sailing boats, swaying palms) adding atmosphere and a sense of life. Designed to inspire editorial coverage and generate interest, the experience was also built with a wider rollout for visitors and tourists in mind.
A Piano Showroom That Fits in Your Pocket
When Yamaha Music Europe GmbH launched their new Clavinova range during the pandemic, in-store events were off the table. We built a comprehensive AR app that let customers place, scale, and explore true-to-specification 3D models of each instrument in their own homes.
Beyond visualisation, the app included audio clips, colour variants, tutorial videos, and a dealer locator, making it a fully functional sales tool for dealerships as well as consumers. Users could also share photos of their AR piano in situ, giving the campaign an organic reach well beyond the app itself.
Uncovering Lowestoft's Hidden History
East Suffolk Council commissioned an app to help visitors to Ness Point discover the rich history of the area as part of a wider rejuvenation of the site. Five AR story experiences are triggered by interpretation boards positioned across the restored parkland at the most easterly point in the UK.
Each experience draws on extensive historical research, combining animated content, historical photography, voiceover narration, and filmed footage to explore the fishing industry, the impact of conflict, and the town's relationship with the sea. It layers centuries of storytelling onto a single stretch of coastline.
